Hey all, I just re-screened all the removable screens and screen door in my '60 Airflyte. Used the fiberglass black screen available at home improvement stores and now have solid screens that are nearly invisible -- and was a very easy process, especially with the spline tool that you can purchase in the screen section. However, the back window and tiny little horizontal window (for top bunk, I surmise) seem to have a different type of screen. It almost looks like it wraps around (think like a flat cushion). I don't have pictures and am not near the Shasta right now. Anyone ever replaced these screens? They almost seem to be metal screen material, which I don't mind using, just not sure how to get the screen off and replace...

On my 56 shasta the screen material is just folded over into the window framing...no frame at all just for the screen (as on the jalousies)....I haven't replaced because it seems like it will be a real hassle and would love to use the fiberglass (used it on my screen door and it looks great).....would love to hear what others have done on these when there is no spline.

I have to replace a couple of screens myself, the P.O. for some weird reason (lazy) just cut a foot long line in the screen in the back and dropped the trailer license down between the screen and window rather than buy 2 bolts with nuts and attach the tag properly??? he could have just cranked the window open, and stuck the tags in from the outside then shut it???

If you have the old Hehr windows, aluminum screen will fold around the lip. Wear Gloves! It's nasty to work with. You can also add spline; I've done it.
Don't think you have the fiberglass option...
