well, I just got the worst news, not sure what to do,
my inspiration for fixing up my camper has been to take my granddaughters camping at the local lake, we have such a good time, anyways, my daughter and Husband split up last week, (they do that about once a year) then get back together.
Well now they got back together yesterday and have decided to move to South Dakota to get a fresh start. (he has problems leaving the wacky weed alone) and thinks moving will help him.
So they are selling everything they own this weekend, and headed up north 18 hours away on someones word they can can find him a job.
FYI, my daughter is legally adopted and they are going to live with her real dad that she has only met once when she was 17, and for the last 7 years she has threatened to go live up there when she felt like she was not being given all she deserved.
I think she needs to go to see it will not be all Candie and rainbows up there, but I cant stand for her to put her Kids through all of this.
anyways, guess I can haul the camper up there and take the grand babies camping there. and I am sure me and the Wife will be making a monthly trip to see the grand babies, they have been such a big part of our lives over the last 6 years. anyways just need to vent I guess.

Depends on where they go, lots around rapid city,(Rushmore and Crazy Horse, Sturgis and the Badlands) Also northern Wyoming is really nice.

If you love her, set her free. She will in time see what she has taken for granted. Just don't make it hard for her to come back - no terms, not that you would otherwise, but leave it open. It will be hard. The grand kids are resilient, be their sounding board in a postive way. It's all you can do without interfering. Best of luck to you.

I'm sorry. Its so hard to see your family tearing apart. Maybe it will help for him to be away from his way of life he is in now. She will stand or fall now without you to hold her up. My way of thinking, good advice from bow-tied.

Good advise, and thats what me and wife are doing, let her make her mistakes and hope she learns from them. at that age I leaned a long time ago you can not tell them anything.

I grew up in the Black Hills of Dakota. Camping is what we "did". I hope you found some of the many hidden gems in the hills. Custer is a good little town. How about an update on how things have been going

Wow, forgot about this thread, I am super glad to say my Daughter and grandbabies all came back home Last Monday, they got up there and things did not go as they had planned. so it Cost me $500.00 in gas and hotel rooms but we have them back home and all is right with the world! and she is a lot more appreciative for what all we do for them now as well.

things are great, as I mentioned above the kids and grandbabies have moved back, lived at home with us for about a month, now they have moved out and live about 15 miles down the road.
