Just wrapping up a nice weekend camping trip with Harrison429 and Offspringin. I like to think of our little group as the 3 Muskateers but at times I think we are really the 3 Stooges ;D. Can't wait till next month for our rally at McKinney!

Would definitely like to do some camping with NoCal members....how about it? We (usually) have decent weather through October..... and the campgrounds are empty.

Can't wait till next month for our rally at McKinney! I can live with being one of the 3 Stooges, they're fun! ;D it was amost a year ago at the first unofficial shasta rally that we all met (in person) for the first time and since then we've been planning trips together and gotten together a few times and its been lots of fun. Now that summer is leaving GA we hope to get together even more. i'm looking forward to meeting our new vst members and making more friends at our first 'official' rally as denoted by official printed t-shirts. hahaha See ya soon! Gonekayaking I know we all would love to get together with you especially since we've watched each other through our resto's but unfortunately NoCal is a FAR cry from GA. Still, feel free to knock on our doors when are you headed our way, we promise to answer!

Last but not least i woke up Sunday morning to this photo on my phone. Our custom sign has been STOLEN! Callie thought it would be funny to put it in her site...... then i reminded her that her kayaks were on the beach by my site and i thought a sign for 2 kayaks was a fair trade..... guess she didnt... my sign got returned...... I made my first camping video over the weekend. Great video! That's about how fast the weekend seemed to go by.

Offspringin, what a awesome video! Are you using a Gopro video camera? I keep thinking about getting one. If so, which model do you have? I need a new video camera something terrible and can't decide which to go with.

Thanks so much. Yes its the Gopro Hero2. I picked up the outdoor package and then picked up the suction cup mount and a few other accessories online. Made a pole camera so i can hoist it up about 18ft in the air. Interesting view point. I used that in the kayak but you get sick watching it so i deleted it from the video. (the kayak sways too much). Also buy the float for water use (it sinks like a rock, my buddy lost his in a lake) (also if you use it on a car/truck tether it to something, in a window, roof rack etc etc with a small rope. if the suction cup fails on the interstate at 65mph you likely will loose it for good) i had it tied to one of the studs behind the wing for some of my footage.
I recommend it for sure but there is ALOT of time that goes into it behind the scenes though. I shot 7-8 hours of footage this weekend and as you saw it was down to 4 minutes. I use Sony Vegas for my editing (wish i had a MAC for doing it). Gopro also has its own software that can help a little for the time lapses. My computer is so slow it cannot play the GoPros video. Its only after i put it on YouTube that i can watch it in fluid form the way it should be view.
The guy that works in the cube next to me got one about 2 months before i got mine. Having seen what he was doing with his i really liked it and thought it might be cool.
Got mine off ebay brand new, it was cheaper than the stores. Still have to buy a card after that (probably another 50 bucks for a 16GB)
I need another battery, the one i have filming at 60fps dies at around 2 hours of solid filming.
I am intending to do a video of the rally next month. Maybe filming on the tour (MTV Cribs style), or driving by the sites. Activities. maybe a time lapse of the dinner together. I'm not really sure.
I'm still learning the software and what it can do. I was using other music but YouTube kept flagging it for copyright issues (even when i had record label approval) which stops it from playing on some mobile devices.
Like working on the Shasta everything looks totally awesome in my mind but when it comes time to do it what i was picturing never lives up to what i actually produce.... ugh... sighs....
If you want to PM me with questions about it your welcome to. The biggest drawback to them is the price of course and that's what kept me from jumping in but im glad i did. I really don't think there is another camera set up out there for consumer use with as much flexibility and number of mounts as this one has. (though i will agree there are other brands that will do the job)

While you were camping at McKinney, did you happen to come across the picnic shelter. Last year, I was told that there was one but I never found it. Sure would be nice to use for the Rally.
