Does anyone know of a sheetmetal shop in the houston area that would or has done the 6" brake pattern for a shasta? I have been to six different shops and no one seems to think they can do it. I know about interstate metals and the metal shop in denver but would like to save the shipping costs by getting it locally.
thanks

If they have a brake, the 6" brake pattern is easy. The hard part is the Pittsburgh Edge at the bottom of the upper piece, and the Automold at the bottom of the lower piece. But they CAN be done on a regular brake, I know, I've done it. Ofcourse, the other issue is length. You are limited to the length of their brake.
Have you asked Interstate what shipping would cost? I thought I read somewhere that is actually isn't too expensize to ship.

I think the main reason no one can do it is because they dont know how, so they start giving me numerous reasons why it cant be done, and its hard to get a fabricator to listen to a customer tell them how to do it. I have not actually gotten a price yet on the shipping, i will do that next, or rent a brake and do it my self. thanks

Have you tried All-Rite Sheet Metal Inc? I don't know if they can do it or not....I can't find my notes on it, but I remember that they were on my list. Hemet Valley RV is awesome!!!! They are out in Cali, but the shipping isn't bad if you have it sent to a business address. Talk with Steve Loomis over there....you'll be so happy to finally be speaking with someone who knows what you want. hemetvalleyrv.net/ They'll even send you free samples of the siding so you can pick the right color.

The Metal company in Denver can't/won't make the 6" pattern. Just FYI.

I wish that 53 was my Shasta, but no...its just a sample of the work that they do there at Hemet. You can see my hunk-o-crap-but-soon-to-be-the-belle-of-the-ball here vintageshastarestoration.blogspot.com/ I'm working with the original skins until after our first camping trip...or I should say my first camping trip just to make sure I like camping. If I do.....then we will get our new skins from Hemet. I'm pretty sure that Hemet will send you the skins mil finish and you would have to shine them up, but I guess for a price they would shine them up for you. On the pic above they put the skins on for these people and shined them up for them. Amazing looking right? I heard that the owners have already gotten tickets because of it.
