If this is in the wrong forum, please excuse me, but this seems to be the most viewed area. I'm interested in knowing if all the wings were originally silver or were some beige in color?
Thanks
After I get this wing thing squared away I'll do a better job introducing myself. Thanks again.

Can't say this for absolute sure, but the late-'60s and early-'70s with the gold stripe may have been painted to match the stripe. That would well appear beige in color on most of them by now. Most that I have seen in our area have been bare aluminum, but weathering can leave the aluminum dulled to almost beige.

Good shape but no wings. I saw a picture in the wings forum of a very similar camper, but the photo wouldn't enlarge for me to see the wing color. (to paint or not to paint thread)

On my 63 compact the wings are white, they match the bottom two tone color , I've noticed that all the pictures I see the darker color is on the bottom mine is just the opposite but the paint looks like the original lots of patina, go figure.

huntinwings...welcome to the VSTF! This might be the same thread I supplied for another questioner in a post below this one, but the person who put this wing info together appears to have tried to gather solid information from many sources...the sweet thing about the web site is that it shows all the different possibilities. I suggest you do not vapor-lock on whether your wings are beige or silver/aluminum or painted to match one of the colors in your two tone paint scheme. Heck as was mentioned the wings got smaller and went from aluminum to plastic anyway. I suggest that as long as you have wings that appear to be the "right" dimensions for a 1971 16SC the wing police will not cite you no matter what color YOU want them to be. We have Members who make superb replicas of the wings and sell them in the Shasta Parts for Sale section. Consider taking a crack at making your own or buy from one of the Members and get them whatever color that is most pleasing to you. It is not the color of the wing that usually puts an automatic smile on a person't face when they see them...it's the WINGS themselves...Shasta has always been the King of Wings! www.freewebs.com/kc8jwa/wings.htmOne final comment...I plucked this from TCT (thank you TCT)...here is a good example of a 1971 Shasta and I would have to believe the wings color is original, just for reference. www.tincantourists.com/classified/showproduct.php?product=6052&title=1971-shasta-travel-trailer&cat=3

Oh Hamlet...by all means there are Wing Police...most, I believe are descendents of sourpuss Serro Scottie designers still smarting from the loss of their lawsuit in 1961 when they tried to put those pitiful little winglettes on that year's models...since it appears I may retire from my current activities at least by very early 2013...I am anxiously awaiting the results of the upcoming election to see who I send my application to for consideration for the position of Wings Czar!

My son and I are searching dumpsters and all through the neighborhood for some material to make a quick set of wings as temporary "place holders" until we can get a more well made set. As a Libertarian, I follow no man's laws LOL we fly by the seat of our pants with as little cash out put as possible.

More power to you Krista
No shame in being resourceful. I frequented thrift stores and goodwill before it was cool (assuming anyone considers it cool now)
I made a lot of good cash in college dumpster diving in the wee hours. Its amazing what people throw out. Just because they see it as trash and are to lazy to find something else to do with it doesn't mean we all should miss out on it..... on the other hand i have ALOT of "stuff" in my house, shed, attic etc etc.
Good luck on the wings!
