As the title says; which, is the best caulking to use around the windows? I've read all the threads on this but never found a answer to which is better for the windows? I have the real sticky stuff but when I pulled my windows they seem to have more of a plumbers putty around them that's not near as sticky as the butyl stuff is? Is one better than the other? Thanks in advance.

Well I picked up the kind that has the crinkly white paper on it? for the windows and the rain caps?

That's what I use for window and door installs, as well as, the drip caps, J trim corner moulding, etc.

Same here, that's putty tape with the crinkly paper. So much easier to work with than the sticky butyl, and it did work for 40 years the first time...
