I'm looking to attach some wings that we got for our '74 Shasta and I want to avoid the corrosion that comes from having dissimilar metals. What is the correct type of screw to use on the exterior? Steel, Stainless, Galvanized?

Stainless is really your only choice. No rust. I wouldn't worry about the dissimilar metals thing much. It's not a boat.

Thanks mobiltec.
I've seen stainless on galvanized go outdoors to nothing in about a year. If you use stainless, that's good enough for me.

I did see some dissimilar metals corrosion on the belly pan of my camper. All the carriage bolt holes through the belly pan were corroded where they sat on the steel frame, to at least the size of quarters...

In Maine I wouldn't be surprised at anything that happens corrosion wise on the underbelly of anything on the road. Snow and salting can help push any kind of corrosion along. For wings I don't think it will be a problem. Besides, is there such a thing as aluminum lag bolts and nuts and washers? Might be but if there is I haven't heard of them except for use in aircraft. I suppose you could use those if you can find them.

Eh, I wouldn't trust aluminum fasteners to hold my mailbox on, if they do indeed make carriage bolts out of it. I already replaced them two years ago with steel anyway.
