Not originally! The wings started in the late 50's, '59 I think.

The first model to have wings, I think, was the Airflyte. The first model year for that was 1958, although a few may have rolled off the assembly line in late '57. If there were other models with the same body style that year, they may also have had wings. Just not sure if the Airflyte was the only one or not.

We have seen pics where an owner has added them, and they just don't look right on that body type. So, Dotty looks good without them because she never needed them in the first place!!

I have had 3 customers who have pre-58 shasta 1500's and ordered wings. It does look great. you guys are right on with the numbers 1958 appears to be the first year and it was on all models that I know of for that year, Deluxe, compact, airflyte, I think they had an Astroflyte (that is a model I never see literature on) then too. Not sure when the 1500 design changed, but once it went away from what I would call the Jellybean shape, the wings were added.
