Dang everything`s changed!

I think we see this picture as it was posted after the change. Its the prechange pictures that I`m seeing the X. I`m sure admin will figure it out

I posted a file in the Riverbend Gathering thread yesterday and now its just an X. Glad I also made a post with the same info so people can see it.

I saw a 1 up top and it was a notification that Mobile had quoted me and someone else liked one of my posts. I kinda like that feature.

That's because it is NOT an "attachment". It's an "image" that is hosted by my server. You can use the INSERT image button up on the top to insert an image that is already being served on the internet. It's kinda like insderting a URL but an Image instead. Play with the buttons.

All the images with the little red x are attachments from another host like Photobucket. Im sure they will work eventually but you must give the Admin a chance to get everything working properly.

Again, the little red X means it was an attachment. Only the attachments don't work. If a photo is already hosted on the internet you can right click on it, go to Properties in the drop down menu and left click on that, then Copy the URL of that image and paste it here. It will work. The photos you see that were up before the change over and that still show are all images that are NOT attachments.

Anyways you are right. They will get it all working eventually.

I tried to upload a picture, and it said something like "this forum has exceeded its quota for attachments." And yes, most of the older images seem to have disappeared. (Mobiltec, how many jumps do you have, and where do you go to jump? My husband was a skydiver before I met him, he had more than 800 when he decided to quit and settle down.)

Mostly I jump at Perris Valley Skydiving in Perris, Ca. I've got almost 1800 now. I've slowed down a lot in the last 4 years because of the freaking economy. It's pretty expensive. $28 per jump now. That's a lot of money for 60 seconds of fun. Then there is gear maintenance and replacement, Pluse USPA dues for insurance and licensing reasons.

I know a lot of guys who skydived BEFORE they got married. LOL.... Maybe that's why I never married.

So, let me see if I've got this straight: If I want to add a photo, I have to self-host it? (Or use a hosting site like Photobucket, which I never use?) I can do that, I do have my own web space and can leave photos there almost indefinitely, but I'm sure there are a lot of folks who can't. And I feel bad that apparently so many pix have been lost.

From what I understand you can just upload straight from your computer to this forum now, OR use a host like photobucket, I'll see if this works,

EDIT, nope, I could not upoad from my computer, it said the file was to big although it was less than the 1 MB specified, I think the forum is still working out the bugs.

so far this new setup is Horrible! harder to find recent post, you can see "new threads" or "new post" but not just what is recently active with both new threads or old threads with new post, nope, I dont like it. I'M OUT!!!

I am torn about the loss of the VSTF pic at the top - I liked the artwork but it was way too big. If it is brought back I hope it is half size if it is on every page like before.

OK FOLKS LISTEN UP!......

I'm very new to this forum even though I have over 750 posts. That's just because I can't seem to shut up much. But please believe me when I tell you that it takes a lot of time to customize the format. Who ever the Admin is has to do it and he or she may have other things going on like a life? Work? A family to take care of ? Grand kids? Who knows? But as you have seen from just one day it is changing and things will not only be back to normal soon, they will be better. Just give the admin a chance to work it all out and if you have preferences as to how YOU think the board should look and act, go to the FORUM FEEDBACK section and voice your opinions there.

Let me ask you all a question and I think I will even make a poll out of this. How many of you have gone to the help section for answers? I bet not more than about 2 percent of you have. There's all kinds of new info there and they ask you to be patient while everything gets switched over. You're dang lucky they didn't just shut the thing down for two weeks while they upgraded everything.

Now the Admin here maintains this board with no compensation and no thanks as far as I can see and this board is a wealth of information. I think that we all owe the people who take care of this board a great debt of thanks and should be willing to take a little rough road for a bit while they get the new pavement down. So let's stop whining about how the board sucks now and try to support the people who hand it to us on a platter. FREE no less. You can't buy the information that is on this board and it should be preserved for all time to come.

For those of you who say "Screw this, Im outta here!"....... good riddins. No one needs you. For the rest of you who think you may have a home and a family here, I say let's all hang in there and let things fall into place. Rome wasn't built in a day but it burned down in one. Don't burn this forum down by dissing it just because you are inconvenienced for a few weeks.

Mobile is right. If we can all just go with the flow for a little while and give Brian and Vikx a chance to work the bugs out. I hated it at first as its showing up blue on my comp and giving me a headache within minutes but instead of just quitting I tried alternatives and found that my kindle is showing the forum in a soft grey and lemon . Smaller key board but beats a headache. I'm sure things will gradually improve.

This is a great little rally that we do on top of a mountain overlooking the LA basin on one side and the Mojave Desert on the other. It's kind of informal and mostly just a bunch of locals. Nothing is really organized other than the date.

The site looks much better this morning. I still hope they get the pictures worked out and we do not lose the pictures from before the change. Keep tweeking and I hope we all hang in there. It will probably be a better site than before.

While the change over was going on there was a video offered and I watched it. From what it said, nothing will be lost including attachments and photos. So I'm guessing that they just have to get the attachment thingy working.
