My Airflyte came with 15" Ford rims on it. The ones comparable at VTS are the same 5X4.5 pattern, but the center lugs for the baby moons are different, so my originals won't fit on them. I am not so sure I would use them without getting them chromed, but would be nice to display the originals. They also have a "dome" cap that fits and the ones with the raised centers (like my originals), which do not fit. If you find a source for late-50's - early-60's Falcon rims, please share!

I also had 15" ford rims with a 5x4.5 hole pattern. Well the important dimension here is the width of the rim and tire. Originally this 57 1500 came with 5 inch wide rims and 6.50 tires. I don't really think height has anything to do with the problem. My problem is I can't get the tires and rims that are on it now on or off without deflating the tire, breaking the bead and the squashing the tire with a big welders C clamp. This problem is the whole reason I came to this board in the first place.

Oh Man, and there's not many solutions... Oddly, Sundance accepts 205/75R/15s without too much of a hassle. (57 1500)Butch Cassidy (blue twin) has very tiny, low profile tires and is too close to the ground.

I just got 205/70/15s (I think, I heard so many tire sizes yesterday...) So well see how it goes trying to get them on. We were gonna try to flip the axle and the leaves, to get those extra couple inches of clearance..

If your 1500 has brakes, a 13" rim may not fit over the hub/drum. That was the problem that I had with the '56 that I recently bought. I took 13" wheels to go pick it up, but had to go to a junk yard and get some temporary spares to get the thing home. I'm going to have to use 15" rims, but I'll get 205/70/15's like hauswife.

Im going to try a 13 inch white spoked stealie tomorrow with a 175/13 tire on it. I'll let you know Sunday if it works or not.

FYI This coming June is the All Fords Show in Carlisle Pa. It the first week of June. You should be able to find 13 in. 5 hole bolt pattern wheels there, they were also on your Fairlanes and Mustangs. Mercury had then as well on Comets and some of there other mid size cars. Good luck Bill

Also you can sneak 14 rims on wit a low profile tire like a 155 r14 or a 165r14" don't go too much bigger than a 170r14. That's if you have brake drums
