Ok with my bathroom scales in my back yard i estimated the tongue weight of my 10' 66 Shasta is just under 300lbs Does this seems about right?

If it is empty that is about twice what i would expect. normally you would have 10% of your total weight on the hitch for proper towing less than that and you start to get sway at speed.

I think the advertised weight was 178 lb. Plus any thing you have added in front of the axle.
