The PO painted over the oven door with the same paint they put on the cabinets. He also painted the fridge for that matter. The oven is not original while the fridge is. The oven appears to have some sort of high quality enamel finish as would be expected (under the paint). Some of the paint is chipping off revealing the original oven underneath. I'd like to remove all the paint but am afraid if I use paint thinner or remover, it could harm the original oven finish and gloss. Can anyone recommend how I might go about doing this?
Thanks!

If the PO used the same paint on the appliances, it's probably not oil-based, so one of the newer strippers might work well without taking off anything beneath it, since the paint they used back then was all oil. It's also possible that the original "paint" is either a powder coat or baked on enamel, in which case paint remover may not harm it. Try to find an inconspicuous place to test.
