So I just started looking at Shasta's but is the asking price fair here? I don't really know how much restoration I want to do personally and I like that this gives you a bit more movement in the cabin. Would you be able to add the wings on to this since it doesn't have them or is that specific to certain models? I'll probably have lots of questions as I learn more so Thanks for all and any advise from you guys in advance.

This is a rear door model so while yes you can add wings they need to small. I personally think they look out of place on these since the trailer is so big and wings need to small.

So this might be a good example for me to learn from. What is it about this that makes it way over priced. I'm assuming because all the wood is old, and you're assuming there is rot in the framing? Forgive me I'm new!

A trailer in original shape is going to need at a minimum all windows rebuilt and resealed, all the butyl tape redone. The butyl seals the roof to the sides and goes around the windows and the drip caps. Plus almost any trailer that is 50 years old is going to have rot. You'll probably want to upgrade the insulation and the wiring when you have things apart.

Nice but without seeing the wooden framing under the skin...price is too high for my liking.

The good: Appliances, all cupboards, lighting, seem to be in place and intact. Skin is in good shape. Not a lot of signs of abuse. Paint seems in decent shape, may just need a good polish and wax. The bad: No evidence of a rebuild, but some evidence of possible rot. Look at the front bottom of the trailer. It seems to be sagging slightly which could be a sign that the frame there has rotted out. This is to be expected in a trailer this age that has been in the elements almost at all, so that part's not bad, just the lack of any documentation at all that any work has been done. The ugly: Needs new cushions all around. Not bad, but pricey. Missing its wings. And, yes, these are smaller than the other models of this vintage. But the original did have them.
The verdict - If the metal frame is in good shape without any cracks or too much rust... $3000.

Were you able to go see it or do you know that much from just viewing the pictures? At least the verdict seems to be in my price range. I'm looking for something that won't need Too much more than cosmetic work in that $2-3k range. I'd be willing to pay more for something redone as I am handy but being so new to everything... not as handy as I probably think I am. I'm also in LA so getting it from Denver would be a drive (but my sister just moved there so an excuse to see her yes! Should that be my range or am I just all over the place?

We're just judging based on pictures. I live in Denver and if your serious about it I could go check it out for you or meet your sister and I can show her what to look for and could probably tow it to her house for you if she can't.

I don't think I'm ready yet, I still want to learn a lot more about all these trailers and exactly what I should be looking for before we can move forward :-). Not to mention this guy probably won't like me offering him $3k haha.

Yes I am ready schweetcruiseres! If you are willing I would appreciate you making a valid evaluation for me and my wife. We have been looking for so long it hurts. We have been in contact with the owner and have some additional info from them on what's been done since they got the trailer. Can you contact me and we can discuss logistics and eventually what we should offer? Thanks so much for working with us, if you are willing!
