Here is an example of how I would like to mount our spare on the back of our compact. cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=220637687932Can anyone tell me what kind of apparatus I would need (and where to buy) in order to do this? It's a pain to carry the tire either in the trailer or in the back of the car for every trip. One of these days I just know I'm going to go off and forget the darn thing and then need it. Kel

and, while we are chatting about this...how about a good resource for a jack. just the local RV store? is there any trick to it? I have never jacked up a trailer.

A welder in your area should be able to fabricate a mount for you for a reasonable cost.
As far as a jack goes, the jack from your tow vehicle *should* suffice. You may want to give it a dry run to verify that it will work. For changing a tire I would place the jack under the axle as close to the spring perch as possible.

Jim,
Thanks, I'll check into that. Would be so nice to have that spare mounted out of the way (:
