Well those of you who might have read some of my posts know that I have been mentioning that I would like to get another trailer. I finished my Astodome this year and we have been using it all summer. The response at the campgrounds has been overwhelming. But something is missing... oh that s right, dust, mold, pain, and aggravation. I wanted another project. I figure with a house that needs work, a demanding full time job, making lots of wings for Shasta owners, and raising my two very young kids.... I have nothing but free time!!!! My goal is to have: An Astodome (check), Airflyte (CHECK), Compact, Delux, and 1500 (1950's) Addicted doesn't cover it at this point. SO I found this one on craigs list and didn't wait for one second. Grabbed my hitch, plate, and a pocket of cash and drove an hour and 45 to Long Island. Met the ORIGINAL OWNER! She was fantastic and we struck a deal that I think was fair $700. I hooked it up and dragged it all the way home through New York with NO LIGHTS! The interior is rough BUT the exterior is in great shape, only one small hole in the rear corner of the skin. Everything is there... except wings (I know a guy who makes them ) It even had 2 copies of the original flyer!!! So she is now sitting on the side of my house patiently waiting for some attention... which might take a while to get to. I have big plans for this old girl and all I can think of is... WHAT THE HELL AM I THINKING. My forum friends.... you are the only ones who understand! Attachments:

Another shot from the other side... you can see the hole I mentioned hear the rear marker light. Other than that... not a ding in it!!! She didnt know if it was a 61 or 62. The P.O. is going to try and find the old reg which I need because the frame number is all but gone. Thankfully CT has been relatively easy with registration on these. I am still trying to come up with a name... "Nasty Shasty 2" just doesn't cut it. Attachments:

You were thinking that you would be a fool not to buy her! Original owner, great skin and everything there except wings? It was meant for you IMO. Great buy! Have fun! Jealous...... but glad its found such a fine home, lol.

Awesome! Did the owner regale you with stories about the trailer? Are you sure it's a she? Total jealousy from the north-left coast. No, envy, maybe, but not jealousy, we're too excited that you found another one to save. Congrats!

Is the VIN plate inside the tongue gone?

Thanks all! I am excited about it. I am going to take this one a bit slower but the learning curve is gone so it might actually take me less time. I really think it was a great find.
She did get into some stories with it. The trailer spend the last 20 years by a lake in CT. They used it in the summers but obviously sitting like that took its toll. The towed it to Long Island 3 years ago.
KTO17- no problem. I need to take some good pcitures anyway, the ones I posted where done on my cell... as you can tell. The tag is there its just very rusted and I am not sure all of the numbers can be read.... I hope so.
I will post some more shots soon. Thanks for the compliments folks!

Is there any way possible to make this one even nicer than the last one? Hmmm. Can't wait to see the progress! ;D Are you staying with the same color?

Nice Tyler! I am jealous! I have seen quite a few since I purchased my 1962 airflyte but either no title or in bad shape and you go out and find a beauty! Looking forward to following your restoration!

"I hooked it up and dragged it all the way home through New York with NO LIGHTS!"
If there isn't some illegality or impending disaster involved in towing, it's just no fun.

Ham... I am going to give it my best, got some good ideas brewing, I really did go all out on my last one. We were at our first show last weekend and the response to my 64 was over the top. Great feeling.
Jea - in CT they dont title trailers under 3000 lbs. so these would not have a title anyway. I do think its a good find, rough but I see the potential. Looking forward to it. Maybe this winter I can start to pick at it.
Cowcharge- It was a "white knuckle experience!" The best comment as I was towing it home was this construction guy who was painting lines in a crosswalk in New York... he said " I need a tetnis shot just from looking at that thing!"

Sorry nomad... she is in drydock here in Shelton and it would take a decent check to make her roll away.

Flying ham... toying ith a few color ideas. I will either stick with the color as it is or go with Black and white and use red or turquoise as the accent color inside..
KTO will send you a shot of the step.

This is how mine started. Now it is down to the frame and starting over. I have already built the wall frames and purchased the birch plywood. the hard part was tearing it down. I am trying to post a picture. But it is not working
