Hey Amy,
You are correct about the 16SCS, Self Contained with Shower.
I am having a blast collecting Shasta Vin#'s and Models. I have 348 Vin's, to date. The Vin#'s are voluntarily given to me by their owners. There are a few owners that don't want their Vin#'s made public. I respect their wishes and this is why I don't make my Database public.
I have provided a partial list of Vin's to Shasta owners, in the past, that are wanting to get the correct year on their titles. Some DMV Officers allow this type of information from antique car and camper trailer clubs. My advise is to ask if this would be allowed at your local DMV office and I would be happy to supply you with a list of Vin#'s a few years before and after your Shasta's Vin#.

Hi Ross,
I would love to take the list with me, if you could send it to me. I was told that it would take 3 years to get a title from the department of licensing, so I'm discouraged.

3 years sounds ridiculous! Sounds like they don't want to mess with it. Try another office. Maybe you will get someone nicer to work with. I will PM you a list.

Hey Amy,
You have a Shasta Compact, born in late late 1967 in Indiana.
Congrats on your new addition and have fun with it! We camp in Florida at least 2 times per years. We recently camped at the Rodman Campground, near Palatka. We will also be at Blue Springs State Park in June.
Hope the info helps. Ross

Thank you so much!!! I'm very excited about our new addition. We are in the panhandle of Florida about 25 miles north of Panama City Beach. We camp mostly around here at the state parks. Can't wait for our maiden voyage with the Shasta. Thanks again!!

Hi,
I just successfully located my vin # thanks to a really good photo here! It did take some elbow grease and acetone but I was able to see it.

Ross,
What year would your database say the above 1400 was built?

I'm trying to figure out the model of this trailer...has the VIN S6394. The title says it's a Shasta 17s/8. Thanks!

Judging by the pictures, it is a Starflyte. Based on the Vin#. it is coming up as a late 1969.
The title info means, 17' long and I'm guessing 8' wide. They are not really 8' wide, but close enough ;D Not sure what the "s" stands for.
Hope this helps, Ross

We just purchased our first camper ever! A 1977 Shasta. I am not sure of the model but the registration lists it as a 1977 Shasta with VIN# is A22P006385

Thank you for your Shasta's Vin#. Most of the Shasta's produced in the mid to late 70's were given a number for their Model name and this was generally based on the length of the Shasta.
Can you post a few pictures and give the total length from bumper to tongue? This would really help to identify the model.

I have one photo at this time, it was too dark for the photos last night to turn out ok. I will post more later. Attachments:

Double check the prefix letter and see if it is an "P" and not an R.
As far as I know, Shasta never had a prefix beginning with an R.
If it reads P10246, it is coming up as a '68 and I would guess that you have an Airflyte. A picture or two would help to identify the Model.
Once you double check the Vin#, please let me know if the prefix is the letter P.
Thanks, Ross

Can you verify? This is what I have: The VIN is P2732 the previous owner thought it was a 64 Airflyte. Does that sound right?

Oh, and she's just shy of 16' overall, body is 13'. Mirror is dated 56.. Rounder shape, had the solid dinettes, has a fridge and fridge door, princess, rear cot.. I'm pretty confused! Told maybe she could be an early airflyte? Bought with only a bill of sale, so the only info is the vin, c7174.

Could you help to determine which model Shasta Travel Trailer this is? It has been sold to the person we purchased it from as a 1957 Airflyte. It was last titled in Pennsylvania as a 1997 (perhaps there was a typo in the DMV). The person we purchased it from told us its a 1962, because he found a date on the sink. It's all very confusing, and being rookies to the Shasta craze doesn't help. The VIN# V9818 appears on the tongue on a small plate heavily covered in paint. This VIN# is also on the title. The state of Minnesota, where we are trying to transfer the title, states the VIN# doesn't match and they would need to inspect the trailer in order to issue a title. This would involve a 60 mile one way trip without current license or insurance (can't get insurance until we have a title)... seems risky to me! I would really like to get the title completed correctly. It seems like a lot of work to not end up with something that would be wrong! Any help you could share would be greatly appreciated! photos to view on Flikr: www.flikr.com/photos/apoolforyou/
